Odds and ends

For the pinewood derby, father and son got to bake and decorate a cake. Or two.

 We get attached to things at my house. Here is our old couch being donated, and our kids saying one last goodbye.

When we went to temple square to see the Christmas lights, this was my favorite picture. 

When the cousins come to visit for Spring break, there is always something crazy going on!

The Pinewood derby: Pretty Awesome Tank!

This is what I fed my kids for April Fools Day: Warning, what you are seeing is not what you think!

(Grilled cheese sandwich aka homemade cake and frosting, green beans aka real green beans  ha ha April Fool, and cupcakes aka pink mashed potatoes on sausage and biscuits.)

The weekend after Spring break, we went and had a weekend away from home.  The girls and Dad did a little service at the temple.

Guess who found a ladybug?

 One day my front yard will look like this.

Visited the museum of natural history.

So, the foot is the size of our redhead.

Hitting the Sweet Spot

Every time we've moved thus far it has taken us at least six months to hit that sweet spot--the time when we finally feel like our new house is actually home. 

I think we're there.

Here are some great memories we've made in the past six months:

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa's graves.

Taking a trip to Mesa Verde.

First day of school.

 First date.

 First visit from the Bell cousins.

 Lots of lost teeth.

 Soccer. Lots and lots of soccer.

 Our van finally giving up the ghost. It was a good van as it got us through many years.

 Lots and lots and lots and lots of swimming.

 We finally live somewhere that it snows.

Just a few of the moments that have helped us hit that sweet spot.

Our Apple Trees

A few weeks after we moved into our new home, our neighbors around the corner gifted us with two little apple trees.  Kimberley and Kayla were actually yard sitting for them, and watering their vegetable garden and trees while they were on vacation.  This is how our two girls walked home:

We planted these little trees in the back yard. It really helped to make our new house a home.  The trees have been carefully watered, and taken care of by all of us.  So when, after a few months, this appeared, we were really excited:

Then it snowed and we were a little worried about our two little trees surviving.

 We shouldn't have worried too much as this is what we found when we got back from our Thanksgiving trip in November:

What amazing little apple trees. Okay, maybe you are wondering how this happened in November.  Maybe you need a close up. 

We are still wondering who gifted us with these shiny red apples, but we had a good chuckle.

Fall Fun, Flowers, Leaves, and Swimming

Fall has arrived and here are some pictures of our beautiful roses in the back yard.

Raking is a new experience, one that the kids took in stride.

Traveled to Durango for a swim meet. 

Here are the girls getting ready to start their heats. They swam five each.  

When there was a break between heats, this is what the siblings were doing outside...

And then back to the swim meet.

One last hurrah before we left for some A&W dinner to celebrate. A nice family day.
